About Gatica

Gatica is a passionate dancer, choreographer, and educator who has dedicated her life to the art of dance. Her journey began at the age of four, when she first stepped into the world of ballet at the prestigious Norwegian Opera and Ballet. For ten years, she honed her skills in this classical form, but it was the freedom in other styles, such as jazz and street jazz, that soon captured her heart. At fifteen, she discovered salsa, and after just one class, she was hooked. This was the start of a lifelong love for Latin dances.

In 2007, Gatica took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles to immerse herself in the city’s dynamic dance scene. It was there that she made the bold decision to commit fully to Latin dances. Five years later, in 2012, she found herself drawn to the sensual rhythms of Bachata. Since then, she has been tirelessly working on crafting her unique style and techniques within this genre.

As a dedicated teacher, Gatica has been sharing her passion for dance with others since 2002. In 2014, she founded her own school, Dance it-by Gatica, in Oslo, which quickly became a hub for Latin dance enthusiasts in Norway. Gatica has also had the privilege of working in theatres, choreographing music videos, TV shows, fashion shows, and leading many performance teams.

Gatica’s journey as an international dancer and artist began in 2010, initially with Salsa, and later, mostly with Bachata. She has performed at festivals worldwide, inspiring countless dancers with her elegance and technique. Her commitment to empowering women in dance is evident in her advocacy for a more inclusive dance scene. Today, she is a well-known and respected figure in the world of Bachata.

Her love for dance extends beyond performances; it’s about the connection and shared energy that comes with partner work. For Gatica, dance is not just movement; it’s an art form that embodies emotions and tells stories.

In 2020, Gatica’s life took a remarkable turn when she met her partner Melvin, and together they created Bachata Influence, a style that has rapidly become a sensation in the Bachata scene. This dynamic duo has been dedicated to nurturing this style, pouring their passion into its development. As mentors to the Bachata Influence Team, they inspire and guide a new generation of dancers, while certifying teachers worldwide. Through their shared passion, they are spreading the magic of Bachata Influence across the globe, igniting a dance movement that unites people from all walks of life.
